John E. and May B. Turlington Scholarship

Ralph D. Turlington and his wife, Ann, established this endowment in memory of his mother and father. Ralph Turlington graduated from UF in 1942 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. After World War II, he joined the faculty at UF. He was elected to the Florida House of Representatives and served from 1950-74. Appointed the Florida Commissioner of Education in the spring of 1974, he was re-elected until his retirement in 1986. Turlington Hall on the UF campus bears his name, honoring him for his years of service to the state and university. Turlington Hall contains classrooms, teaching auditoriums and faculty offices for the College of Liberal Arts and Science
