Crom Corporation Scholarship Fund
GA: support scholarships; recipients are encouraged to write informal annual report on their academic progress.
Ted Crom has a heart that keeps on giving. In addition to being one of the nation’s leading blood donors, having donated over 26 gallons of blood, he has given back to the community in many ways. He has personally contributed more than $1 million to the University of Florida Foundation.
Around Gainesville, Ted’s other donations are abundant. He sponsored the Japanese Garden at the Civitan Regional Blood Center, restored the old Alachua County Courthouse clock and had it mounted on the Clock Tower downtown, and established the Gainesville Annual Good Cop Award. A member of the Engineering Advisory Council and advisor to UF’s chapter of Tau Beta Pi, Ted was named a distinguished alumnus in 1976.
Ted was one of the founders of The Crom Corp. in Gainesville in 1953. Today, the corporation is the world’s foremost builder of prestressed concrete tanks for water storage and wastewater treatment. The company puts heavy emphasis on customer service, making sure that each employee is familiar with every aspect of the company’s operations. The company has continued to maintain this tradition of excellence after Ted’s retirement in 1991.
In 1986, The Crom Corp. established a scholarship fund at the University of Florida in memory of R. Kelly Clark, an officer of the company. It is known as The Crom Corp. Scholarship Fund. The central purpose of this scholarship is to encourage students who are interested in pursuing a career in Engineering and Construction, with a strong emphasis on excellence.
The company also supports a similar scholarship fund at the University of South Florida known as the R. Kelly Clark Memorial Scholarshi
