Michael A. and Mary F. Solowy Award

Michael and Mary Solowy

This fund was established by Michael A. and Mary F. Solowy and their daughter, Dr. Marian K. Myers. Mary was born June 20, 1915 and passed away February 3, 1982. She spent many hours of her time counseling, feeding and, in general, trying to ease the way for the members of medical student classes of 1962 to 1966, and the numerous graduate students. Michael was born March 31, 1911 and passed away February 1, 2008. Marian became a neonatologist, spending her career in academic medicine educating future physicians and other healthcare students. She remembers her father as always having a twinkle in his eyes, a joke on his lips and a willingness to help anyone with anything. Marian earned her bachelor’s degree of science in 1962 and a MD in 1966, both from the University of Florida. She received the Holloway Award for excellence in Pediatrics at her graduation in 1966.
