Cleve Hamm

Friends and family of Clifton Cleveland Hamm Jr. created this fund in his memory, after he died in 1984 at age 56. After graduating from UF’s journalism school in 1951, Hamm became a reporter for the Florida Times-Union in Jacksonville. A year later he moved to The Tampa Tribune, where he worked as assistant state editor and state editor. In 1963, he became the managing editor of the Lakeland Ledger and later was named vice president and editor. Hamm joined Jefferson Pilot Publications in Beaumont, Texas, in 1976 as an editorial consultant. The following year, Hamm was named editor of the Beaumont Enterprise and the Beaumont Journal. A year before his death, he moved to Louisiana as the executive editor of the Thibodaux Daily Comet and the Houma Courier. This fund is for juniors or seniors in the colleg
