This fund honoring Marcia Whitney Schott supports an eminent scholar chair in the College of Medicine to advance research for rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus and other related diseases. Marcia and Lewis Schott contributed the funds that established this endowment, which was the largest eminent scholar chair to be established in Florida’s State University System at the time.
Marcia was a graduate and benefactor of the University of Florida. She was born in Michigan and grew up in Jacksonville. She graduated from Wesleyan College and in 1946, earned her law degree from UF, where she met her future husband, Lewis. She moved to New York City with him in 1951. A successful breeder of race horses, an outstanding interior designer and the mother of three children, Marcia, who suffered from arthritis, passed away in 1989.
