F. Eugene Tubbs, M.D. (1935-1978) was a resident physician at UF’s Shands Hospital, an attorney and a state legislator. He was instrumental in generating funding for the development of a burn unit at Shands. The burn unit, which opened in 1978, was subsequently named in his honor for his contributions to Shands and the project.
The Tubbs Nursing Scholarship Fund was established in memory of F. Eugene Tubbs by Patrick A. and Michael E. Tubbs, his sons, and his mother, Margaret I. Tubbs.
