David Lawrence, Sr. Scholarship Fund

David Lawrence, Sr.

The Orlando Sentinel, Knight-Ridder Inc. along with family and friends of the late David Lawrence Sr. established this fund in his honor. Lawrence was the top editor at the Sarasota Daily News before moving to the Orlando Sentinel, where he served as the state capital bureau chief and a political columnist. He was inducted into the Florida Journalism Hall of Fame in 1990.

Lawrence passed away in 1983. His son, David Jr., graduated from UF in 1963 with a degree in journalism and communications.
