Edward A. Proefke AGC Convention Fund

Fund Purpose
Letter: Support annual attendance to the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) conference for the President of the Student Contractors and Builders Assn. (See Ltr. for details)

This fund created by Edward A. Proefke, was established in 1983 for the purpose of supporting conference attendance for the President of Student Contractors and Builders Association in the College of Design, Construction and Planning.

Proefke was born January 31, 1932. He earned a bachelor’s degree in building construction in 1959 from the University of Florida. While at UF, he was a president of the Student Construction and Builders Association. He worked for Proefke Development, Inc. and founded his own construction company, Enterprising Building Corporation, in Dunedin, FL two years after graduating from UF. In 1986, Proefke was named a UF Distinguished Alumnus.

Proefke married Betty, and the couple has three children.

In 1982, the School of Building Construction recognized Proefke’s continued support and contributions by awarding him the first-annual Distinguished Builder award.

Currently, Proefke is a member of the board of directors of the Associated General Contractors of America and served as president of the Associated General Contractors of Mid-Florida and on the chapter’s board of directors. He is also a member of the American Institute of Contractors.
