J. Ed and Betty B. Price Scholarship Fund
Letter: support scholarships to students in Counselor Education who plan to work in college level student affairs.
J. Ed Price had a close affiliation with UF for more than three decades. He entered the university in 1926 and was president of the senior class of 1930. After graduate studies, he served as assistant dean of students and worked as UF’s first counselor with returning veterans of World War II. He also worked as a counselor in the Office of the Dean of University College and as a professor of social sciences. He retired from UF as professor emeritus in 1966.
Price took an active role in promoting the welfare of students, providing careful attention and guidance to assist them with personal and professional matters. He was also known as “Mr. Florida Blue Key” for his dedication to that organization. He assisted with Homecoming planning for 30 years and served as the first editor of “Who’s Who in Florida Blue Key.” He passed away in 1978.
Betty Boozer Price worked as an administrative assistant at the university when she met her future husband. They were married for 35 years and had one son, Ed. She was an active contributor to the Gainesville community, particularly as a member of the Altrusa Club. She passed away in 1991.
