A model engineer and citizen, he organized and headed an engineering consulting firm and served for many years as a chairman of the Alachua County Zoning Commission. He belonged to numerous engineering honorary and professional societies, including the Society of Mechanical Engineers and the Florida Engineering Society. Newt’s wife, Anne Wells Ebaugh, passed away in 1993.
