Why We Give
Thousands of Gators will rally around UF later this month for Stand Up & Holler: Gator Nation Giving Day on Feb. 20. It’s our once-a-year get-together to help our university continue its climb as one of the world’s greatest institutions of higher learning.
While we all stand up as one on this special day, each of us has our own reason to holler. Here, three Gators share theirs:
Gail Yaciuk, Innovation Academy donor
“As the wife of a Gator alum (Joseph, BA ’96) and mom of a current student (Joshua, ’27), I want to give back to the school that has meant so much to my family. Watching my son thrive at UF and knowing the impact it had on my husband’s life, we want to ensure future generations continue to benefit from the same great experiences and education. Every dollar counts, and when combined with the support of others, even small contributions make a big impact.”
Cescyia Stevenson, (BS ’03) Media Production, Management and Technology donor
“I chose to give back during last year’s annual Gator Nation Giving Day because my time at UF, especially in the College of Journalism and Communications, had a huge impact on me. Every contribution, no matter how small, makes a difference and helps students succeed. Even in challenging times, I encourage others to give — your support provides much-needed relief for future Gators, just as I once received.”
Tom Hunter, (BS ’66) Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering donor
