Revisit Campus from Anywhere in the World
Follow the tour route that student guides use when taking would-be Gators around campus.
Take a back-to-school stroll around the UF campus from anywhere in the world through a new feature on the free GatorWay app.
Launched this spring, GatorWay’s UF Self-Guided Tour guides you through 14 mapped locations on campus, from the Plaza of the Americas and Marston Science Library to Murphree Hall and The Swamp. For each stop, there are photos of UF landmarks along with audio narration by a UF student, who provides up-to-date information, statistics and a little bit of history.
Users who create a personal account with GatorWay can interact with attendees at each virtual stop.
If you take the virtual tour while on campus, UF Admissions suggests starting at the Reitz Union so you can follow the same route used by the in-person student guides.
To Take Your Tour
1. Download the free GatorWay 4.0 app to your phone or tablet from either the App Store or Google Play.
2. Optional: create an account with GatorWay (you can still access the virtual tour without it).
3. On the GatorWay home page, you will see three large buttons. Click the one on the right that says “University of Florida/Self-Guided Tour.” Download the tour and open “Self-Guided Tour” from the menu.
4. On the tour homepage, you’ll see a photograph of the French Fries statue above a Google map showing the route, with a list of stops. Click “Begin Tour” at the bottom of the page.
5. A pop-up window will ask you if you are at this location right now or if you are remote. Enter your response.
6. You’ll be taken to the Welcome Center, with a pop-up window explaining how to listen to the tour. Click “Got It.”
7. Click the triangular play button above the words “Welcome Center” to listen to the narration. Buttons on either size of the triangle enable you to skip forward or backward in 15-second increments. An icon at the top of the page, with a walking human, shows your progress on the tour. The circle below it allows you to skip to destinations of your choice, if you don’t opt to take the tour in order.
8. Click “Next Destination” to proceed from the Welcome Center to the Reitz Union, etc., all the way to the final stop, the Wertheim Lab for Engineering Excellence.
