The Development Coordinator described herein works to expand philanthropic support, alumni relations, stewardship and development outreach for the UF College of Dentistry to increase overall giving in support of their respective missions and visions. This role will plan, direct and execute several complex and integral programs and initiatives that help foster philanthropy and steward donors within the College of Dentistry. Applicants must have the ability to coordinate multiple projects at a high level of performance, accuracy and speed. This position requires excellent written and oral communication skills, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently. The successful candidate will integrate all activities and initiatives with Advancement organizational goals, culture, mission, vision, and values.
 
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
 
Preferred qualifications: The ability to work strategically, develop and implement constituency programs and activities, along with a talent for motivating volunteers. The ability to communicate clearly and effectively with diverse constituencies, meet deadlines, be self-motivated, and work independently. Accuracy, attention to detail and a customer service oriented attitude. Ability to work collaboratively and a team player. Competency in problem solving. Ability to write communication pieces and direct marketing appeals. The ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines and effectively self-determine work priorities in order to deliver the best outcomes. Related experience working with volunteers and/or in similar organization. Experience billing, tracking expenses, and interacting with vendors. Experience organizing, planning, and executing events.

The Senior Director of Advancement is responsible for the management and administration of the College of Education development and support program. The incumbent is responsible for the implementation of a broad range of public support programs for the College of Education including fundraising, communications, alumni relations, public support groups and college services. Portfolio Management Identification, cultivation, and solicitation of new prospects $100,000 and above for the College of Education. Build a portfolio of fundraising prospects and strategically manage relationships through face-to-face visits to bring gift solicitations to closure. A minimum of 15 individual face-to-face visits will be required each month, with specific data input for each visit entered into the system by month?s end. Attend college and UF Advancement (UFA) functions primarily to identify new prospects. Strategic Initiatives Direct the planning and implementation of all fundraising and alumni activities for the College. Serve as advisor to the Dean of the College on fundraising matters and coordinates development activities between the College and UFA. Strategic Leadership Manage the operations of the Development, Private Grants, and Alumni Relations functions of the College of Education; hires, supervises and evaluates staff; oversees maintenance of files, contact reports and records associated with these activities. Responsible for effective prospect tracking, record keeping, reporting and administration aligned with the metrics and reporting from the College of Education and UFA. Build, manage and lead a strong team of development professionals. Identify and recruit top talent and provide leadership, counsel on matters relating to fundraising, and accountability including establishing goals in alignment with unit objectives, developing metrics and strategic planning. In addition, incumbent will attend senior development meetings.
 
Minimum Requirements: Master's degree in appropriate area of specialization and six years of appropriate experience or a bachelor's degree in appropriate areas of specialization and eight years of experience.
 
Preferred qualifications: The ideal candidate will possess: Five to six years of fundraising experience with proven success soliciting gifts of $50,000+. Prior experience in a college or university setting, enthusiasm for fundraising in a comprehensive research university, and the desire to work collegially within a goal-oriented fundraising organization. Knowledge of fundraising principles, methods, and standards. Expertise in developing solicitation strategies.

Working knowledge of donor database record management and tracking system in a fund raising or development environment, familiarity with SQL (structured query language), Cognos, Visio, SharePoint, hypertext content management (wiki), and Adobe Suite are highly preferred. Ability to adapt to future technologies. Exposure to process mapping and analysis and experience in requirements definition, selection and/or hands-on implementation of enterprise software solution, or mid to strong experience with software solutions in an educational setting are highly desired.
