The Advancement Office for the College of the Arts seeks an Assistant Director of Development to be responsible for the development, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of mid-range donor development programs and lead the college’s alumni affairs program and events.   Reporting to the Senior Director of Advancement, this position will qualify and identify prospects, cultivate, and close both annual giving and mid-range gifts up to $50,000.  The incumbent will serve as a strategic partner with the College of the Arts and UF Advancement and will design solicitation strategies on a case-by-case basis, being cognizant of development office and college needs and procedures.  We are looking for applicants with knowledge of fundraising principles, methods, and standards and experience in development, alumni affairs, education, public relations, external affairs and/or higher education with specific experience in developing solicitation strategies.

Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and one year of relevant experience.
 
Preferred qualifications:

  • The ability and willingness to travel.  A valid driver license and good driving record are essential.  
  • Knowledge of fundraising principles, methods, and standards.
  • Experience in development, alumni affairs, education, public relations, external affairs and/or higher education. Expertise in developing solicitation strategies.
  • Evidence of sophisticated communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Evidence of sophisticated interpersonal skills and the ability to work collegiality and interact effectively with a diverse constituency.
  • Evidence of strong organization skills with a focus on detail and fiscal oversight.**
  • Experience in or evidence of skills in project management.
  • Evidence of skill in designing and facilitating work that advances curiosity, inclusion, open intellectual discourse, and the well-being of all in an environment of complex diversities.
  • Prior experience in a college or university setting, enthusiasm for fundraising in a comprehensive research university and the desire to work collegiality within a goal-oriented fundraising organization.  The ability to lead, influence and motivate others.  Ability to work collaboratively and proactively to meet team needs.
  • Three to five years fundraising experience with proven success soliciting gifts of $5,000-$50,000 strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated accomplishment working strategically and fostering productive relationships with volunteers, developing volunteer leadership, and proven success working with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience in a data-driven environment.
  • Working knowledge in these areas:  Windows, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, WWW browsers, preferably Internet Explorer, E-mail.  Working knowledge of a donor database, contact management and tracking system.
  • **Business expenses are reimbursed through a standard accounting system. The ability to pay for expenses using your own personal credit card or funds and have them reimbursed is essential.

The Director of Development is responsible for implementing a broad range of fundraising activities for the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering, focused primarily on acquiring major gifts for the Engineering School of Sustainable Infrastructure & Environment (ESSIE).   • Expertise in developing solicitation strategies.
  • The ability to work strategically, develop and implement constituency programs and activities, along with a talent for motivating volunteers.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and a team player.

The Senior/Executive Director of Advancement will lead the development and alumni support programs for the Levin College of Law.  Reporting dually to the Dean of the College and Assistant Vice President of Development, the Executive Director will work to develop and implement fundraising strategies to meet the College’s financial needs and to raise the national and international profile of the College, in alignment with the strategic initiatives of the University and UF Advancement.

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Eight to ten years of major gift fundraising experience with documented success in cultivating and soliciting major gifts of $100,000 and above from individual and corporate prospects.
  • 3+ years’ experience leading a high performing team of 3+, including prior management of development officers.  Track record of recruiting, developing, and retaining a high caliber staff, building a team, and creatively organizing and managing them to maximize the support of external constituencies.
  • A J.D. or similar knowledge of the legal profession and experience working with lawyers.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing innovative fundraising strategies designed to maximize performance of a development team.  This includes knowledge of fundraising principles, methods, and standards; a demonstrated ability to construct, articulate, implement, and monitor an annual strategic development plan; and an excellent track record of entrepreneurship, innovation, and creative problem solving.
  • Prior experience in a college or university setting, enthusiasm for fundraising in a comprehensive research university, and the desire to work collegially within a goal-oriented fundraising organization. 
  • A strong understanding of budgeting practices, financial accountability, and the ability to manage resources with prudence and efficiency.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Development Administration for University Initiatives, the Assistant Director of Development, Leadership Annual Giving will be focused on qualifying and soliciting leadership annual giving and mid-level prospects. The development coordinator manages a portfolio of national and local corporate partners and programs to increase market awareness and financial support for the Children's Miracle Network benefitting UF Health Shands Children's Hospital. Responsibilities include managing corporate partner relationships, point-of-sale campaigns, peer-to-peer fundraising programs, special events, the CMN Ambassador Family program, donor stewardship and recognition, marketing support and financial reconciliation. The development coordinator will represent UF Health and the UF Health Office of Advancement at all internal and external events, and must be flexible and available for occasional weekend and evening programs.
 
Minimum Requirements:
  • A bachelor's degree and a minimum of one year of experience in fundraising, community relations, sales or marketing required.
  • Equivalent education and/or experience may be substituted for the degree (based on a year-by-year basis).
  • Experience with Children's Miracle Network Programs is highly desirable.
  • Must have the ability to work well with corporate executives, volunteers, patient families, the media and general public.
  • Strong leadership, public speaking, communication and computer skills required.
  • Experience coordinating special events/promotions and recruiting and managing volunteers, along with strong organization and planning skills, preferred.
  • Candidates should be creative, self-driven and looking to join a fast-paced, collaborative team.
  • Strong working knowledge of computer applications, including Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint, required.
  • Experience with database applications, such as Raiser's Edge, preferred.
  • Experience with social media applications preferred, but not required.
