The University of Florida is seeking a visionary and strategic leader to serve as the Executive Director of Development, Corporate Engagement within the Office of Research. This senior role will drive transformative partnerships between UF and industry, aligning corporate philanthropy with groundbreaking research initiatives and institutional priorities. Reporting jointly to the Vice President for Research and the Interim Senior Assistant Vice President for Principal Gifts & Strategic Initiatives, the Executive Director will lead a comprehensive engagement strategy that fosters innovation, secures major philanthropic investments, and strengthens UF’s position as a global leader in research and discovery. This role offers a unique opportunity to build a robust corporate engagement and fundraising program for the Office of Research by cultivating high-impact relationships with industry leaders and corporate partners, providing strategic direction for fundraising initiatives, and fostering long-term partnerships that advance the unit’s mission and research enterprise.
 
Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree and eight years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor’s degree and ten years of experience.

 
Preferred qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • 5–10 years of experience in corporate engagement, strategic partnership development, and fundraising, with a proven track record of cultivating and soliciting major gifts of $100,000+ from individuals and corporate prospects.
  • Prior experience in a college or university setting, with enthusiasm for fundraising in a comprehensive research university and a collaborative, goal-oriented environment.
  • Deep knowledge of fundraising principles, methods, and standards, including expertise in solicitation strategy development.
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills with senior executives, donors, and internal stakeholders; strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate complex research initiatives into compelling partnership opportunities.
  • Strong collaboration and problem-solving skills; a team player with the ability to work effectively across departments.
  • Demonstrated commitment to workplace inclusion, stakeholder engagement, and project management in a data-driven environment.
  • Proficient in Windows OS, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, internet browsers, and email platforms; familiarity with donor databases and contact management systems highly preferred.
  • The ability and willingness to travel.  A valid driver’s license and good driving record are essential. *

The Marketing & Communications Specialist plays a vital role in advancing the University of Florida College of Liberal Arts and Sciences’ external engagement and fundraising efforts through strategic, donor-centered communications. This position is responsible for developing persuasive messaging and storytelling that resonates with alumni, donors, and stakeholders—strengthening relationships and inspiring philanthropic support. By producing compelling campaign materials and communications that reflect the college’s values and impact, the Specialist helps elevate the college’s visibility and reputation. Reporting to the Associate Director of External Engagement, the Specialist collaborates closely with a dynamic, on-campus marketing team within the college’s Office of Advancement and Alumni Affairs.
 
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant experience; or an Associate’s degree and four years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

 
Preferred qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in related field.
  • 1-3 years of content production experience, preferably in a higher education setting.
  • A passion for storytelling, along with a talent for motivating audiences.
  • Prior experience in alumni relations, development, or marketing/communications is strongly preferred.
  • Creative vision, strong written and verbal communication skills, and excellent attention to detail.
  • Exceptional technical, persuasive writing, editing, and verbal communication skills with strong grammar, spelling, and proofreading skills, including the ability to shift voice and tone based on audience and channel.

As the state’s only college of veterinary medicine, the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine (UF CVM) serves the needs of society by training the next generation of veterinarians, by treating thousands of animal patients and by looking for the cause and cure of diseases that impact both animal and human health. The incumbent will work within the UF College of Veterinary Medicine's Office of Advancement. This office is responsible for major gift fund raising. These gifts support the college in all of its efforts to improve the health and welfare of our animal friends as well as human health. Confidentiality is of the utmost importance. The Administrative Assistant serves as the assistant to the Office of Advancement team members. In addition, the incumbent will be required to use a database that is maintained at the UF Foundation. The team members travel extensively; therefore, the incumbent in this position assumes a great deal of responsibility.
