The Advancement Office for the College of the Arts seeks an Assistant Director of Development to be responsible for the development, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of mid-range donor development programs and lead the college’s alumni affairs program and events.   Reporting to the Senior Director of Advancement, this position will qualify and identify prospects, cultivate, and close both annual giving and mid-range gifts up to $50,000.  The incumbent will serve as a strategic partner with the College of the Arts and UF Advancement and will design solicitation strategies on a case-by-case basis, being cognizant of development office and college needs and procedures.  We are looking for applicants with knowledge of fundraising principles, methods, and standards and experience in development, alumni affairs, education, public relations, external affairs and/or higher education with specific experience in developing solicitation strategies.

Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and one year of relevant experience.
 
Preferred qualifications:

  • The ability and willingness to travel.  A valid driver license and good driving record are essential.  
  • Knowledge of fundraising principles, methods, and standards.
  • Experience in development, alumni affairs, education, public relations, external affairs and/or higher education. Expertise in developing solicitation strategies.
  • Evidence of sophisticated communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Evidence of sophisticated interpersonal skills and the ability to work collegiality and interact effectively with a diverse constituency.
  • Evidence of strong organization skills with a focus on detail and fiscal oversight.**
  • Experience in or evidence of skills in project management.
  • Evidence of skill in designing and facilitating work that advances curiosity, inclusion, open intellectual discourse, and the well-being of all in an environment of complex diversities.
  • Prior experience in a college or university setting, enthusiasm for fundraising in a comprehensive research university and the desire to work collegiality within a goal-oriented fundraising organization.  The ability to lead, influence and motivate others.  Ability to work collaboratively and proactively to meet team needs.
  • Three to five years fundraising experience with proven success soliciting gifts of $5,000-$50,000 strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated accomplishment working strategically and fostering productive relationships with volunteers, developing volunteer leadership, and proven success working with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience in a data-driven environment.
  • Working knowledge in these areas:  Windows, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, WWW browsers, preferably Internet Explorer, E-mail.  Working knowledge of a donor database, contact management and tracking system.

The Director of Development, UF Parent & Family Giving for University Initiatives is responsible for implementing a broad range of fundraising activities in support of Student Life, Undergraduate Affairs and University-wide and Academic College initiatives. Under direction of the Associate Director of Development Data & Operations Management – GatorMed, the Assistant Director, Development Data & Operations Management is responsible for coordinating and assisting fundraising operations and projects associated with pipeline and development components of UF Health, including the College of Medicine’s, Grateful Patient Program, the College of Veterinary Medicine’s grateful client program, and UF Health’s regional hospitals. Additionally, will assist in the management of project tasks, which include developing and implementing departmental and organizational policies and procedures, integration of the new CRM and dynamic databases, production of documents and reports, and ensuring excellence in service to fundraisers in pipeline development and portfolio management, including training and communication. The development coordinator manages a portfolio of national and local corporate partners and programs to increase market awareness and financial support for the Children's Miracle Network benefitting UF Health Shands Children's Hospital. Responsibilities include managing corporate partner relationships, point-of-sale campaigns, peer-to-peer fundraising programs, special events, the CMN Ambassador Family program, donor stewardship and recognition, marketing support and financial reconciliation. The development coordinator will represent UF Health and the UF Health Office of Advancement at all internal and external events, and must be flexible and available for occasional weekend and evening programs.
 
Minimum Requirements:
  • A bachelor's degree and a minimum of one year of experience in fundraising, community relations, sales or marketing required.
  • Equivalent education and/or experience may be substituted for the degree (based on a year-by-year basis).
  • Experience with Children's Miracle Network Programs is highly desirable.
  • Must have the ability to work well with corporate executives, volunteers, patient families, the media and general public.
  • Strong leadership, public speaking, communication and computer skills required.
  • Experience coordinating special events/promotions and recruiting and managing volunteers, along with strong organization and planning skills, preferred.
  • Candidates should be creative, self-driven and looking to join a fast-paced, collaborative team.
  • Strong working knowledge of computer applications, including Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint, required.
  • Experience with database applications, such as Raiser's Edge, preferred.
  • Experience with social media applications preferred, but not required.
