The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Florida is searching for an enthusiastic and strategic Associate Director/Director of Development to help drive transformative change. In this pivotal role, you will cultivate relationships and secure major gifts of $100,000+ that propel our college’s vision forward. As a dynamic member of the development team, you will work closely with the Senior Director of Development, college leadership, and faculty to craft compelling proposals and strategic fundraising plans. Your partnership with donors and external stakeholders will create meaningful impact and inspire lasting support for the college’s groundbreaking initiatives. We are looking for someone who thrives on collaboration and innovation, bringing a passion for higher education and a track record of fundraising success (or similar experience). The role calls for independence, teamwork, and the drive to engage directly with key donors. Extensive travel is required to build meaningful connections and amplify our goals.
Minimum Requirements: Associate Director:
Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and one year of relevant experience; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and three years of relevant experience.
Director:
Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and three years of appropriate experience in development or a related field; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate areas of specialization and five years of experience in development or related field
Preferred qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:
- One to three years of fundraising, development, sales, or related experience (Associate).
- Three or more years of fundraising, development, sales, or related experience (Director).
- Prior experience in a university or nonprofit environment.
- General knowledge and understanding of business/economic environment.
- Knowledge of fundraising principles, methods, and standards.
- Demonstrated successful experience in prospect identification, relationship building, solicitation, and stewardship.
- The ability to work strategically, develop and implement constituency programs and activities, along with a talent for motivating volunteers.
- Competency in problem-solving.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal abilities, and the capacity to engage effectively and collaboratively with a wide range of individuals are essential.
- A commitment to and support for workplace inclusion in all its forms; demonstrated success collaborating with stakeholders; strong project management skills; experience in a data-driven environment; excellent organizational abilities; and the capacity to lead, influence, and inspire others are essential.
- Proficient in the following areas: Windows operating systems, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access, as well as internet browsers and email platforms. Familiarity with donor databases, contact management systems, and tracking systems is also highly preferred.

Supporting a Top 6 University and one of Florida’s most prestigious Colleges of Nursing, the Senior Director of Advancement is responsible for the leadership and implementation of the development and alumni affairs program. Reporting to the Dean of the College of Nursing and the Assistant Vice President of Advancement, UF Health Science Center, this position serves as the chief fundraiser and subject matter expert for the college.
In addition to the academic leadership, this position will have a dual reporting line to the Assistant Vice President of Development, UF Health. The Senior Director will help drive transformation change by cultivating a donor portfolio, stewarding donors, and soliciting principal, leadership, and major gifts.
This position will lead the College of Nursing advancement team and ensure the success of all development-related programs. The selected candidate will serve as a strategic partner between the College of Nursing and UF Advancement, collaborating with central fundraising efforts, ensuring the overall success of alumni programs and fundraising goals, and promoting a culture of philanthropy within the college’s internal and external constituencies.
Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree in appropriate area of specialization and six years of appropriate experience or a bachelor’s degree in appropriate areas of specialization and eight years of experience.
A valid Florida driver’s license is required.
Preferred qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Five to seven years of major gift experience with documented success in cultivating and soliciting major gifts of $100,000 and above from individual and corporate prospects with campaign experience.
- Prior experience in a college or university setting, enthusiasm for fundraising in a comprehensive research university, and the desire to work collegially within a goal-oriented fundraising organization.

The Development Coordinator manages a portfolio of national and local corporate partners and programs to increase market awareness and financial support for Children's Miracle Network benefitting UF Health Shands Children's Hospital. Responsibilities include managing corporate partner relationships, point-of-sale campaigns, peer-to-peer fundraising programs including Dance Marathon at UF, special events, the CMN Ambassador Family program, donor stewardship & recognition, marketing support and financial reconciliation. The Development Coordinator will represent UF Health and the UF Health Office of Advancement at all internal and external events and must be flexible and available for weekend and evening programs.
Minimum Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree and a minimum of one year of experience in fundraising, community relations, sales or marketing required.
- Equivalent education and/or experience may be substituted for the degree (based on a year-by-year basis).
- Experience with Children's Miracle Network Programs is highly desirable.
- Must have the ability to work well with corporate executives, volunteers, patient families, the media and general public.
- Strong leadership, public speaking, communication and computer skills required.
- Experience coordinating special events/promotions and recruiting and managing volunteers, along with strong organization and planning skills, preferred.
- Candidates should be creative, self-driven and looking to join a fast-paced, collaborative team.
- Strong working knowledge of computer applications, including Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint, required.
- Experience with database applications, such as Raiser's Edge, preferred.
- Experience with social media applications preferred, but not required.
