The Associate Director of Development, College of Education, will focus on fundraising for the College of Education (COE) through personal contacts and facilitation of events that assist the development effort. This position will identify prospects, cultivate and close both leadership annual gifts, and major gift at levels of $100,000 and above. This role will serve as a strategic partner with the College of Education and UF Advancement ensuring conformity with the central fundraising efforts and the overall university development and alumni program goals and in promoting a culture of philanthropy by broadening constituents’ understanding of the value of giving.
Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and one year of relevant experience; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and three years of relevant experience.
Preferred qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Three to five years fundraising experience with proven success soliciting gifts of $25,000 and up strongly preferred.
- Experience in development, alumni affairs, education, public relations, external affairs and/or higher education.
- Prior experience in a college or university setting, enthusiasm for fundraising in a comprehensive research university and the desire to work collegially within a goal-oriented fundraising organization.
- Knowledge of fundraising principles, methods, and standards.
- Expertise in developing solicitation strategies.
- Experience in development and alumni relations and/or external affairs.
- Demonstrated accomplishment in fostering productive relationships with volunteers and developing volunteer leadership.
- The ability to work strategically, implement and build constituency programs and activities, along with a talent for motivating volunteers.
- Ability to work collaboratively and a team player.
- Competency in problem solving.
- Must be an outstanding communicator and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills; interpersonal skills; and the ability to work collegially and interact effectively with a broad constituency.
- Proven success working with stakeholders; project management skills; experience in a data-driven environment; organizational skills; and the ability to lead, influence and motivate others are required.
- Strong organization skills with a focus on detail and fiscal oversight are imperative.
- Working knowledge in these areas: Windows, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, WWW browsers, preferably Chrome, Firefox, E-mail. Working knowledge of a donor database, contact management and tracking system.

The Director of Alumni Volunteer Engagement serves on the Alumni Relations leadership team and provides oversight and management of special and signature events for the UF Alumni Association.
