Advancement Update from Tom Mitchell (3/24/20)
UF Advancement Operating Status
UF Advancement remains open and operational.
All employees should be transitioned to a remote work environment.

Colleagues,

I hope this note finds you healthy and establishing a good rhythm as we all adjust to our new normal. Thank you all again for the leadership you have demonstrated for our university in our evolving situation. I am incredibly grateful for the flexibility and resilience you have shown over the past week.

Today I write to update you on a change to our operational procedures related to our buildings, and to request your help with one component of our communications efforts:

In response to the Alachua County “Stay at Home” Emergency Order, we are modifying our building and other operating procedures. Access to our facilities will be restricted to Tuesdays from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM only, and we ask that you notify facilitieshelpdesk@uff.ufl.edu if you plan to access our buildings during that window. Facilities will continue to process mail on Tuesdays and Fridays to allow the 48-hour window for sanitation. Documents reflecting these adjustments have been updated and are posted on the HUB.

As a one-time accommodation, given the short notice of these changes, you may access our facilities tomorrow, Wednesday, March 25, from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM in order to pick up any materials you may need. If you have an emergency need to access your office and/or workspace outside of these windows, please contact the Facilities team.

Secondly, we would like to solicit your help in supporting our internal communication efforts. Our team is currently compiling stories and examples of how our Advancement community is living our organizational values as we react and respond to these uncertain times. Potential examples might include the following:

  • Service:Examples of individuals who are helping their Advancement colleagues achieve their goals, and other outstanding efforts in pursuit of our Advancement mission.
  • Excellence:Individuals or projects that demonstrate the Gold Standard; examples of innovative ways in which you and your colleagues are pursuing our mission and generating financial support for university priorities.
  • Team:Examples of teams joining forces to achieve something bigger than themselves; collaborative efforts that help Advancement move priorities and achieve goals.

Please consider the total impact of our collective work as advancement professionals, and send us some of your examples and stories today. If you have something to share, please send it to Nicole Neal at nneal@uff.ufl.edu.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Tom
