The new UF license plate will be available statewide by January 2023. Some counties may have plates as early as by mid-December.

The best time to purchase your UF license plate is during your vehicle registration renewal period, which begins three months before your registration expires. However, you may change your plate at any time. Additional fees may apply.
An initial one-time fee of $28 is required to switch your current plate to a new UF license plate. This does not include other fees associated with registration renewals or fees required by your Tax Collector or DMV. Please contact your local Tax Collector Office or DMV to learn more.
Specialty plateholders pay an annual fee of $30, paid at the time of your renewal/registration, which benefits UF and serves as a donation to support UF.

Yes. If outside your renewal cycle, you will need to pay all registration fees associated with your vehicle registration renewal at the time of purchase and then again at your time of renewal. Please contact your local Tax Collector Office or DMV to learn more about the fees associated with specialty license plates for your county or to learn more about specialty plate requirements set by the State of Florida.
Ten years. The State of Florida requires that all specialty plates be replaced every ten years. Your local Tax Collector Office or DMV will automatically issue you a new plate during your tenth year of specialty plate ownership. Please contact your local Tax Collector Office or DMV to learn more details for your county.
Unfortunately, no. The State of Florida does now allow pre-orders for specialty license plates.
Please submit your rebate form online. The rebate program is offered through the UF Alumni Association. The UFAA is not responsible for paying annual renewal fees or any other fees incurred.
