Diversity & Inclusion
Our Commitment
University of Florida Advancement is committed to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment thus creating a sense of belonging for every individual’s unique perspective related to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, and more.
- We embrace all as part of an inclusive community that welcomes new ideas, individuals, and perspectives that further our values of respect, belonging, dignity and compassion.
- We pledge to perpetuate meaningful, sustainable change addressing issues such as systemic racism and bias of diverse populations in order to make our community whole.
Our shared commitment to promoting communication and collaboration across our community underscores the notion that diverse perspectives are key to challenging, learning, understanding and unlocking our highest potential while serving our highest mission to advance the University of Florida.
Helping Advancement Nurture Diversity (H.A.N.D.)
H.A.N.D. is Advancement’s diversity and inclusion initiative. As part of the initiative, we welcome guest speakers each quarter to learn best practices in supporting diversity and inclusion in the workplace and in our daily lives. We encourage colleagues to engage in conversations to share experiences, thoughts, reflections, and ideas on the topic.
Vision | An inclusive culture within UF Advancement where all are valued and feel safe to express their unique characteristics and identities. |
Mission | To create and foster a culturally inclusive environment, among our diverse population of alumni, friends, and employees, where diversity of thought and expression is valued, respected, appreciated, and celebrated. |
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Joint Taskforce Statement | We embrace all people as part of an inclusive community that seeks out and welcomes diverse ideas, individuals, and perspectives that further our values of respect, belonging, dignity and compassion. We reiterate these values by recognizing the systemic racism and bias of diverse populations that are prevalent in society.
UF Advancement is committed to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment. Our shared commitment to promoting communication and collaboration across our community underscores the notion that diverse perspectives are key to understanding and unlocking our highest potential while serving our highest mission. Our pursuit of this mission requires intentional actions (or efforts) and a perpetual drive to include and listen to those with backgrounds different from our own, to learn from perspectives that challenge us to think differently. We recommit ourselves to perpetuating sustainable change that makes our community whole. |
