Jean and Bayard Bidwell Endowed Scholarship

History

In order to provide scholarships for exceptional veterinary medical students who are motivated to obtain their educational and professional goals, Jean S. Bidwell established this endowment in 2005 in honor of her husband, Bayard.

In 1954, Bayard graduated from Brown University. He served as the vice president and director of the Lee County Humane Society. Jean earned her bachelor's degree from Brown University in 1954 and her master's degree from Eastern Michigan University. She earned her second master's degree from the University of Michigan in 1963 and she continued on to receive her doctoral degree in 1971. Bayard Bidwell passed away in 2003.

Criteria

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine students; intended to encourage and support students who have demonstrated capacity to achieve educational and professional goals, the motivation to achieve these goals and the initiative to seek opportunities to further their progress in this course of studies; awarded annually to one or more students at any level of their professional DVM degree program studies and may be renewable; preference to students with demonstrated financial need.
