Samuel and Bessie R. Proctor Fund

History

This fund supports Jewish studies in memory of Bessie R. Proctor, wife of Samuel Proctor. Samuel Proctor is a 1941 UF alumnus and graduated with a Ph.D. in 1958. He is a retired UF faculty member and was named a Distinguished Alumnus in 1985. Samuel Proctor is a distinguished service professor of history and the Julien C. Yonge Professor of Florida History at UF. One of the leading experts on the history of Florida, he was the director of the Center for the Study of Florida History and Humanities and director of the Center for the Study of Southeastern Indians. He also served as the official historian of the University of Florida.

Criteria

Undergraduate students majoring in Jewish Studies; based on need and merit.
