G. Ballard Simmons Memorial Scholarship Fund
History
Dr. G. Ballard Simmons served the UF College of Education for 34 years. His roles in the UF community included student, graduate assistant, professor, assistant dean, director of P.K. Yonge Laboratory School and acting dean of the College of Education.
In 1962, Simmons was appointed dean at Florida Atlantic University and served in that position for five years until his retirement at age 70. Upon his death in 1986, family and friends established the G. Ballard Simmons Memorial Scholarship at UF so that his legacy of enthusiastic and effective leadership in education would live on.
Criteria
Graduate students in the College of Education who demonstrate scholastic and leadership ability, a potential for development of skill in teaching, an enthusiasm for teaching as a lifetime profession and financial need. Must hold a bachelor's degree in education.
Application Information
Requires admission to or full-time enrollment in a graduate professional teacher education program at UF.
