Florida Rural Rehabilitation Corporation Scholarship Fund in Agriculture
History
The Florida Rural Rehabilitation Corporation (FRRC) established this scholarship to benefit worthy students from Florida farms and rural areas who plan to pursue agricultural studies at UF.
In 1933, inspired by the vision of President Franklin D. Roosevelt, Congress passed the Federal Emergency Relief Act, which demonstrated a joint effort between the federal and state governments to provide a system of aid for millions of rural Americans adversely affected by the Great Depression. The FRRC is a private, nonprofit corporation that received a federal grant in 1934 as a result of this act to provide loans for farm or rural rehabilitation services. Repayment of those loans has provided a revolving fund for the corporation from which it now offers financial awards that help many students to complete their education.
