Don Thomas Memorial Scholarship Fund
History
This scholarship was established in 2000 by Linda A. Thomas to honor the memory of her husband, Don M. Thomas. Thomas was a native of Williston, FL, graduating from the University of Florida with a bachelor’s degree in food and resource economics in 1981 and a master’s degree in agriculture and extension education in 1988.
Active in his local agricultural community, he was a member of the Citrus County Fair Association and taught middle school agriculture in Dunnellon and Inverness, as well as serving as faculty advisor for the Future Farmers of America (FFA) Chapter in those schools. Thomas passed away in 2000 and is survived by his loving wife, Linda, and their two children--Austin and Ranson.
Criteria
Students in the Department of Food and Resource Economics; must have financial need, at least one credit hour of business ethics, a minimum 2.75 GPA and documented community service.
