Gene and Barbara Batson Endowed Nursery Fund

History

Owners of a large wholesale nursery operation in Mount Dora, Gene and Barbara Batson have specialized in establishing and selling nurseries for the past 16 years. In that time, they have created 12 nurseries and put 60 acres into production. Due to a revitalization of the horticulture industry over the past several years, the Batsons hope this scholarship will help college students pursue careers in the nursing business.

Criteria

Environmental students interested in careers in ornamental nursery and landscape. The award will support students who participate in internships to provide hands-on preparation for a career in the nursery industry.
