History
Elizabeth R. Airth provided this scholarship in memory of her husband, Alfred T. Airth, to benefit conscientious students dedicated to academic excellence.
Alfred T. Airth served Suwannee County as county attorney for 20 years and then served the city of Live Oak as city attorney for 26 years. He retired in 1975. Voted Suwannee County Man of the Year in 1956, Airth developed an admirable record of community, civic and religious service to Live Oak and Suwannee County. A 1930 alumnus of UF's law school, he passed away in 1993.
Elizabeth Airth passed away in 2001.
Criteria
Undergraduate students who have graduated from either Suwannee High School or Branford High School in the top 15 percent of their graduating class; students from Lafayette, Dixie, Madison, Hamilton, Taylor and Columbia counties also eligible; renewable for up to four years for students maintaining a 3.0 GPA or higher.
