Endowed Scholarships & Fellowships
Christopher M. Squitieri Scholarship Fund
History
This scholarship is the first to be designated solely for UF's disabled students. It was established by Alan V. Squitieri in memory of his son, Christopher, who had spinal bifida. Christopher never let his disability limit his activities or hinder his love for life and learning. He passed away in 1993 at the age of 34.
Alan Squitieri hoped that by establishing this fund he would help to eliminate one obstacle for disabled students pursuing an education. He was inspired to make this gift because of the dedication shown by the university in making education possible and accessible for disabled students. Squitieri was the developer of the Oaks Mall in Gainesville, in addition to other commercial and residential ventures in Florida and throughout the nation.
Criteria
Scholarship awards to disabled students attending the University of Florida.
