Ann Garnett Marston Scholarship
History
Ann Carter Garnett Marston, wife of Dr. Robert Q. Marston, was UF’s First Lady from 1974-84. She was a graduate of Averett College in Virginia. She was an active supporter of elementary education, fine arts and civil rights. She was influential in obtaining an especially fine carillon for the Century Tower and was a main force in the restoration of the Memorial Auditorium organ. She was tapped for honorary membership in Florida Blue Key, was made an honorary director of the University of Florida Foundation and was instrumental in establishing an endowed visiting lectureship known as the Ann Carter Garnett Marston Lectureship in Fine Arts.
Her scholarship is awarded for excellence in scholarship.
Criteria
Juniors or seniors in the Department of Art with a 3.6 GPA or greater who demonstrate responsible leadership and give service to the university and/or the community.
