Florida Opportunity Scholars
Billy and Urban’s Challenge
| 10/14/2008 Press Conference Webcast |
We have agreed to co-chair the fundraising effort for UF’s Florida Opportunity Scholars program and have accepted a challenge to help raise $50 million to keep the program going for years to come.
The Florida Opportunity Scholars program will provide direct financial assistance to more than 1,100 students this year and 1,600 next year who come from families in which neither parent holds a bachelors degree and whose annual household income falls below an established level (last year the average household income was $24,000).
While as coaches we have devoted ourselves to UF’s men’s basketball and football programs, we are also passionate and committed to do our part to see that each deserving student willing to put the time and effort into his or her education at UF gets that chance. The Florida Opportunity Scholars program is a meaningful way to give that chance to promising students whose only limitations are their lack of financial means.
In the Gator tradition of helping others, please join with us and consider making a gift to the Florida Opportunity Scholars program and help UF continue to produce smart, diverse and productive graduates.
Thanks for joining with us in this challenge and Go Gators!
