Steve Melnyk |
Steve Melnyk was born February 26, 1947 in Brunswick, GA. He won the 1969 U.S. Amateur Championships, the 1971 British Amateur title and represented the United States in the 1969 and 1971 Walker Cup competitions.
Melnyk was president of Gator Boosters from 2000 to 2001 and is on the Gator Boosters and University Alumni Association Boards.
Melnyk attended the University of Florida where he graduated in 1969 with a bachelor’s degree in industrial management. He was a collegiate golf All-American three times from 1967 to 1969, achieved mention in “Who’s Who in American Universities and Colleges” and is a member of the University of Florida Hall of Fame, the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame and the Florida Sports Hall of Fame.
Facility History
Located adjacent to the 14th hole, this 680 square foot facility is equipped with a computerized video system that analyzes the Gators’ swing from various angles and then uses the information for technique improvement. Two covered outdoor hitting stations protect golfers from the elements at the two-tiered hitting area. The facility also includes restroom and storage areas, two bunkers and a 10,000-square-foot putting green.
