Alfred C. “Al” Warrington IV

The Warrington Courtyard pays tribute to Alfred C. “Al” Warrington IV, namesake of the University of Florida’s business college.

Warrington was founding chairman and co-CEO of Sanifill, Inc., an environmental company in Houston that develops and operates nonhazardous solid waste landfills and land farms. He is also a founder of Atlanta-based House of Cheatham. He retired from Arthur Andersen as a managing partner in 1989 after more than 30 years with the company. Mr. Warrington graduated from the University of Florida with a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 1958. He is a past national president of the University of Florida Alumni Association and Gator Boosters. In 1979, he was named a University of Florida Distinguished Alumnus and was named an Outstanding Alumnus by the Fisher School of Accounting in 1985. In 1996, the University’s Warrington College of Business Administration was named after him, and he was inducted into the University of Florida Athletic Hall of Fame in 2003.

Mr. Warrington was appointed to the University of Florida Board of Trustees in 2001.

Facility History

Warrington Courtyard is located in the northeast corner of campus between Bryan and Gerson Halls. It was named for him because he was the co-founder of the School of Accounting and a major contributor of the monies required to build the new Fisher School of Accounting building.
