Dr. Linda Thornton |
Dr. Linda Thornton, known as "Dr. T" to her students, began teaching in the College of Health and Human Performance in 1969. She was one of four women who was instrumental in establishing the women’s athletics program at UF. A two-time Health and Human Performance Teacher of the Year, Thorton retired from teaching in 1998. Former students of Dr. T established the Dr. Linda Thornton Endowment as a tribute to her accomplishments and contributions to UF. In addition to naming the classroom where she formerly taught, the fund supports scholarships for students majoring in recreation.
